PICTURES FROM ISRAEL
 

We landed at about 5pm on Wednesday (11/27/02).  After a short stop at the Dan Pearl (our hotel), we walked to Sbarros for a late dinner. Thursday morning, we walked to the kotel for Shacharit, and joined the Ben Mendes and his family (fellow Teaneck residents) for Ben's Bar Mitzvah.  After breakfast at our hotel, we boarded our bus to tour the eastern parts of Yerushalayim with Avi Dobuler (our tour guide) and Chaim Silverstein, Director of the Yeshivat Beit Orot. We saw the yeshiva itself on Har Hazaitim (Mount of Olives), and stopped in the Musrara and Shimon HaTzaddik neighborhoods where Beit Orot has reacquired property and Jews are once again living.

We had lunch in the Old City, and met up with Yossi Baumel of Ateret Cohanim, who took us on a tour of the Christian and Moslem quarters of the Old City. We went as far as the Shaar Brachah property, which is next to the Damascus Gate, and walked atop the city walls there, before we had to return to daven Minchah at the Kotel.

After Minchah, Mark, Melissa and Moshe took the "Tunnel tour" while Norman and Zvi met with the Sakuri family at the hotel and presented the kids with Chanukah and birthday gifts.

We had our Thanksgiving Dinner at Normans Steak House in the German Colony, Al Fresco style. While some people opted for the turkey special, Mark and Zvi each polished off a Sumoburger.
