RINAT'S
2nd Annual Israel Mission - Last updated 3/1/03
Our second
annual Solidarity Mission was a success! We both gave
Chizuk, and got Chizuk. We visited new Jewish
neighborhoods in the eastern parts of Jerusalem,
including Beit Orot (on Har Hazeitim), Musrara, Shimon
Hatzaddik and Ras-el-amud. Yossie Baumel of Ateret
Cohanim gave us a tour of the different quarters of the
Old City, culiminating with a walk on the city walls
near Shar Bracha. On Friday, we visited Beit El, saw the
Bet El Tephilin factory and the Arutz-7 studios, had
lunch at the Regional Army Base HQ. Shabbat was spent in
Yerushalayim, with our own minyan Friday night at the
Kotel. On Sunday, we walked "in the path of the
Avot" as we visited Kever Rachel, Otniel (which is
Rinat's sister community), and Hevron. In Hevron, we
toured various Jewish neighborhoods, saw the Kevarim of
Ruth and Yishai (father of Dovid HaMelech), and visited
the Yeshiva in Hevron. We davened Mincha & Maariv at
the Ma'arah, and then returned to Yerushalayim for a
get-together with Rinat Olim and some students at the
Muscat restaurant in Givat Shaul.
