In Memory of our beloved friend, Bonnie Berman, A Memorial Campaign has been developed to provide both manpower and books to the “Bergen Reads” Program.
The Bergen Reads literacy program is part of a nationwide effort to help public elementary school students enjoy reading and improve their reading skills in a comfortable and friendly environment. The reading program is geared toward students in grades K-3 and is run by the UJA Federation of Northern New Jersey.
This program was part of Bonnie’s life for many years. She loved her weekly sessions reading to the children, and she is greatly missed at The Whittier School in Teaneck, NJ.
There are a few ways in which you can contribute to this worthwhile program.
1. Donate your time to read to a child. If you live in Bergen County and have 1 hour a week, this program will bring you much joy. http://www.ujannj.org/page.html?ArticleID=89235
2. Donate a new book, appropriate for a student grades K-3.
3. Make a financial donation. All checks should be made out to “Bergen Reads UJA of NJJ” and write Bonnie Berman Memorial Fund in the notation on your check. All donations are tax deductible.
All checks or books can be delivered or mailed to:
