The post high school year in Israel has been credited with creating a mini-revolution in our community. What are the challenges faced by our young people during this year and how can we help them successfully navigate? This lecture will investigate a number of dimensions of the gap year, including: Challenges arising from separation from home and what parents can do to help this process; Family visits and how to optimize successful interactions; Psychological issues common to gap year students; Why students come to therapy during the year and what to do if your child is having difficulties; Current trends -who is coming to israel today versus 20 years ago and why are they coming.

This shiur has been generously sponsored in memory of my beloved Mother, Sarah bat Shmuel Menachem, a”h, by Rella Levenstein Feldman, and by Maya Katz in beloved memory of Dina bat Isak, a monument to the endurance of love.
