Well it is December, and Thanksgiving has just passed. It is an excellent time to look back and reflect over the last twelve months.
Twelve months ago, we were having our final Shabbat in our beloved Youth Building (of blessed memory). Sure we had leaks, and no air conditioning, but we also had a ton of fun there. The art projects, the melava malkas, Shabbat groups, the many amazing memories. We were worried about our amazing youth program. How were groups going to work? Where would we have our programs? In the end, it was much ado about nothing. Groups have continued, bigger, better, and much noisier then before. We have had some fantastic programs over the last year, our grand ballroom has really been grand and everyone from our great children, to our amazing group leaders all the way to Charlie and the youth committee have pitched in to make something that was great even better.
In just a few months, we will be moving into our new home but before that we have a lot of programs coming up and some exciting new initiatives.
November has always been our traditional ‘Melovie Malka’ month and most groups had a Melava Malka. We had an amazing turnout for the Kindergarten and First grade program but our ‘Broovie’ wasn’t so hot. Divsha and I would like to thank Na’ama, Eliana and Liora for showing up, next time we hope you bring some friends.
December should be fantastic as we will have an amazing program at the beginning of the month. LatkeFest will take place (or took place) on Sunday December 6th. Everyone will have (or had) a great time. Some the highlights will be a Bingo game, an NCAA style dreideling competition and a Latke eating competition to insure that Shalom comes.
At the end of the month, we will have our Rinat Youth Shabbat meals and our final ‘Melovie Malka’ on Janurary 2nd for grades two through six.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us right away, we want to make sure that every child has a great time. If there is anything we can do to make that happen please let us know. Divsha and I can be reached at DMTOLLINSKY [at] GMAIL [dot] COM.
Have a happy Chanukah!
Divsha & Martin
