Guest Speaker: Yefet Ozery, American Associates of Ben Gurion University.  The film brings to life a lost English language interview from one of modern Israel's greatest leaders, David Ben-Gurion. Along with being one of the key founders of the state of Israel, he was an idiosyncratic, playful iconoclast who believed big cities were not good for humanity, was taught to stand on his head by the legendary Moshe Feldenkrais, and hung out with RayCharles. Ben-Gurion's introspective soul-searching about lsrael's  role in history provides a surprising vision for crucial decisions Israel needs to make today. Admission is free.

Topic: The Ten Commandments – from the Bible to Rembrandt
In a PowerPoint presentation, Prof. Penkower will review the history of depictions of the Tablets of the Covenant and the Ten Commandments inscribed thereon, from the Bible through the Middle Ages, in both Jewish and Christian Art.  In two of Rembrandt’s paintings, the last five Commandments can be read clearly.  We will discuss the shape of the Two Tablets, the division of the Ten Commandments, the division of the Sections (Parashot) and the Jewish sources upon which these representations are based.
