Addiction and Substance Abuse in our Community
What is addiction? How can we prevent it? What can we do to help those who struggle with this disease? Join us for a Community Awareness Event, sponsored by our local RCBC synagogues and high schools, about the growing epidemic of substance abuse and addiction within our community. This important event will be held on Sunday, April 22nd, 8:00pm at Torah Academy of Bergen County, and is free of charge. Opioid and drug abuse are on the rise and we, in the Jewish community, are not immune – it can happen to anyone. Our goal is to increase public awareness and understanding, reduce the stigma associated with the disease, and encourage our community to focus on the issue and learn how to detect and prevent substance abuse. Members of the Teaneck community and Amudim, a not-for-profit organization that supports individuals and families dealing with substance abuse and addiction, invite you to join us. Speakers will include Rabbi Zvi Gluck, Director of Amudim, Avi Shteingart, LCSW/CASAC, Rabbi Larry Rothwachs, Director of Professional Rabbinics at RIETS/Rabbi of Congregation Beth Aaron, as well as a recovering addict and a local parent.
