Rabbi Adler's weekday shiur schedule
Wednesday, April 11, Women's Chumash shiur will take place at 12:30pm, as usual.
The Wednesday evening Women's Mishna shiur will not take place this week (April 11) due to the Yom HaShoa program at Teaneck High School on Wednesday night. Rabbi Adler encourages all to attend this event which will take place at 7:30pm.

Thursday, April 12, at 8:00pm, Mrs. Shulie Mishkin, Teacher at Pardes and Matan, will present an audio/visual lecture on: "Tanakh and Archeology: Can the Two Travel Together?"
Mrs. Mishkin, a renowned and licensed tour guide in Israel and teacher at Pardes and Matan, will discuss how archaeological finds over the last century have both enriched and challenged Tanakh. This fascinating discussion will focus on what excavations have revealed about the David and Solomon stories.

Friday Plag Mincha Minyan
In response to recent demand, we will be initiating a third Friday night (plag) mincha minyan this week.  The minyan will convene in the beit midrash and will hopefully run throughout the summer months.This week’s plag mincha minyan will begin promptly at 5:55pm.  Please join us if this fits into your schedule.

The evening will open with tfillat mincha, followed by a Yom Hazikaron presentation from an Israeli soldier, and tfillat maariv chagigit. It will continue in the Jewish Center's social hall, which will be transformed into a Shuk Yisraeli, replete with Israeli food, music and experiential activities focusing on Israeli culture, geography and history.  The evening will conclude in the Jewish Center's sanctuary with a musical performance of Shirei Eretz Yisrael - classic Israeli folk songs.
Please plan to join hundreds of your friends in celebration of Yom Haatzmaut Hashivim! Parking in the JCOT lot, adjoining streets and the municipal parking lot. All adults and children sixth grade and up are invited to attend.

Mindful Movements in Your Everyday Life: A Comprehensive Workshop to Enhance the Physical Well-being of Women of All Ages & Stages
TONIGHT, Tuesday, Februrary 6th, 8:00pm, Rinat Social Hall
The Teaneck Yoetzet Halacha Initiative and Rinat Yisrael’s Nerot are pleased to invite the women of our community to come join
Deena Elias, PT, DPT
Joyce Bendavid, OT, Feldenkrais Practitioner and
Shoshana Samuels, Yoetzet Halacha
in a workshop built to provide women with a tangible understanding of common physical and anatomical causes of pain and injury, and to educate on ways to promote physical well-being through mindful movements, while preventing pain. We will look at various stages of a woman’s life, including emerging adulthood,
pregnancy and post-partum, working adults and mothers, as well as post menopause and continued free movements in older adults, to examine the physical challenges associated with each stage. Participants will take home practical tips to improve various day-to-day activities from lifting packages to carrying a purse, from working out at the gym to working at your desk, and from texting to typing, all in a more mindful way. Small changes in these routine activities can make a big difference in our physical well-being and lives!

Ms. Miriam Kosman, doctoral candidate at Bar Ilan, speaking on "A Jewish Theology on Gender? A Haredi Woman's Perspective".  Mrs. Kosman is an international lecturer for Nefesh Yehudi, a program that offers classes on Jewish thought and philosophy to Israeli university students and she lives in Bnai Brak.  Her book, Circle, Arrow, Spiral: Exploring Gender in Judaism, published in 2014, explores gender roles in the Jewish community.

This interactive session will address actions, posture, body mechanics and the role of core strength throughout different life stages including: emerging adulthood, pregnancy, post-partum, menopause and continued free movements as older adults. Participants will take home practical tips to improve day-to-day activities from lifting packages to carrying a purse, from enhancing physical intimacy to climbing stairs, in a more mindful way.

Bergen Volunteer Medical Initiative (BVMI) which provides primary care to the uninsured working poor in our area is seeking general and healthcare volunteers.   https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCXB-0w_HfyHJt8TRBe9sp3g . The facility is located just 10 minutes from Teaneck. For information about volunteering please email socialaction@rinat.org

Eva's Village is an organization that helps homeless and working poor in downtown Paterson. Opportunities include volunteering in the soup kitchen for breakfast and lunch on weekdays (January dates available), and in the Workforce Development Program helping with resume writing, interview skills, and basic job search internet skills (Tue & Thur 9am-12pm/Wed 10am-12pm). lecture in commemoration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day featuring Rabbi Saul Berman who will speak on "Selma 1965 : Jewish Lessons from Prison."  Rabbi Berman participated in voter registration campaigns and demonstrations in Selma, Alabama during March 1965. Arrested twice, he will share his motivation for that participation and his experiences with both Jews and non-Jews with whom he was incarcerated.
